OUTSTANDING PLAYS AND TURNING POINTS:

but is stranded.
LOWRY -Top 2: Robinson singles and steals second and
moves to third on a WP. Janhunen is HBP and Matt Haylett walks
to load the bases but final batter strikes out.
REED -Bottom 2: Devries leads off with HBP and next
batter flies out. Delong singles and Burkhardt strikes out.
Fountain doubles to right to score two runs before Ramirez
pops out to Roeder in rightfield.
LOWRY -Top 3: Dennis leads off with a single and steals
second. Cassinelli reaches on an error and then moves up an
error and steals third and goes home as the catcher’s
throw sails into leftfield. Robinson and Roeder strike out
to end inning.
REED -Bottom 3: Down in order.
LOWRY -Top 4: Nicholson singles and steals second and
third and then takes home on a passed ball.
REED -Bottom 4: Devries singles to lead off but Robinson
quickly gets the next three to fly out.
LOWRY -Top 5: Down in order.
REED -Bottom 5: Robinson begins to tire as he hits
Ramirez and Carr reaches on catcher’s interference. Okimura
walks and Jensen hits a sac fly to score Ramirez. Devries
is HBP and Dennis relieves Robinson. Pinch hitter Meiar hit
a double to clear the bases before the final two outs are
recorded.

COACHING COMMENTS:
Although Joe threw well, our hitters did not support
him well. But the credit goes to their lefty—he threw
a great game. He struck us out 16 times by working ahead and
getting us to swing at bad pitches. However, the bright spot
was that our defense rebounded from the first game.
